Engineer Park to Dawson to Little Salmon Lake Park Aug 5th

Engineer Park wake up to rain, a solid sleep though, good thing I packed everything into the car the last night. The park is about 190km north on the Dempster, road has changed a lot in the last 24 hours, large ruts have been developed and the mud slide that was clean up before is now up the road level.

I see 1 moose, an eagle and a few hares. As I get along there in sunny spots in the distance and a fantastic rainbow, the whole arch, for some reason I can never get a shot of the whole bow., on one side its a double rainbow. Into Tombstone park, again fantastic views but no hike due to the rain. One need boots to walk on the land here as you just sink and your foot goes right through the tundra wet like mush.

In back into Dawson for lunch at Belinda's Bar and Keno Lounge. Fish and Chips with a local beer $35, Fish is arctic Char. fish is good way too much breading.

Fuel up again at $1.385 including spare tank, and wash the mud off the car. Heading south again toward Faro and the Canal road hwy 6. Take a wrong turn toward Mayo hwy 11, realize it when I get to mayo a mining town. Not much to see here, there are lots of fishing outlets aimed at fly away fishing holes. Rains most of the day, return to Klondike hwy and get onto the right road at Carmacks.  Within 10 clicks the car rolls over to 600,000 kms.  An hour later I arrive at Little Salmon lake Yukon park, and getting a site right on the water. Again the rain has stopped just in time to make camp and the all important fire. Little salmon lake is very big. Within minute of getting the fire going blue sky appears and bug spray goes on, which turns out to be not needed at a light breeze takes them away. 600 km today.
